Performer 2016
In July 2016 I performed at the Mid-Winter Festival at Huonville, Tasmania. This required improvisational performance as a part of a team of actors “in a tent”. This up close and personal style of performance requires strong observational ability and quick thought processes. This type of festival improvisation on demand has a constant stream of general public walking through the performance spaces. The audience included individuals and families with small children who are sometimes unsupervised. It requires a high level of emotional intelligence to be able to ‘read’ the audience and tailor a performance to suit various audiences and their emotions. I am highly skilled at this type of performance work. Director - Annie Lee (Kransky Sisters)

Create Foundation 1999
The A Team. Consultant
Developing a national leadership project (The A Team) which includeddevising a performance work with young people in caredirecting and supporting performers to achieve their best workall production aspects of performance program including seeking funding from Queens Trust, tour management, overseeing set design and construction, prop and costuming, team liaison and venue negotiations preparation & touring of performance to Melbourne & Sydney evaluation with participants and stakeholders. compile a report and recommendations to funding body. completed. Successfully funded by the Queens Trust.
Performances by Young People in Care - at the 1999 International Foster Carers Conference Melbourne University and Fundraising event for the Create Foundation Randwick Sydney.
At this time, I was undertaking post-graduate media study at QUT. I used this opportunity to investigate how “orphans’ were portrayed in film and literature including Annie, Oliver, Moses, Snow White, Cinderella and Anastasia. I drafted this research into a paper “Teletubbies to Truman, the panopticonism of orphans in the media”. In the document I identified common themes and symbols used in storytelling about orphans, both traditionally and in contemporary media. This document was the framework that informed the development of the A Team production for the International Foster care Conference and at a major fundraising event for the organization in Sydney.
The premise of the performance was reforming our ‘baggage’ into a staircase and working together to reach higher places. We used old suitcases as the steps on a staircase to symbolize how using what we have, we can get to where we choose to go.

Curriculum Vitae

Sharon Hanson

Born in 1959, Sharon grew up in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, before moving to the Whitsundays in far north Queensland in 1982, where she became one of the first female deckhands and an accomplished skydiver. Relocating back to Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs in 1988, she joined the Waverley Woollahra Arts Centre, learning various printmaking techniques and entering the prestigious annual Waverley Woollahra Art Prize competition.  One of a group of 6 artists, in 1995 she first exhibited her work at the Bondi Pavilion Gallery (“Flesh Food”), and then in 1996 at the Michael Commerford Gallery in Rushcutters Bay (“Body”).
Later that year Sharon married and in 1997 moved with her husband to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, where she joined the Coolum Art Group, selling her smaller works at the local art market, entering the annual Coolum Art Show, and exhibiting at Traders Coolum, as well as other local shows and competitions, such as the Noosa Hot Chilli Festival and Giada Eumundi.
Early 2005 saw a return to Sydney as a single parent with her young daughter.  While she continued to paint and create prints, predominantly nudes with a foray into abstract and nature-inspired dry-points, time for creating art was limited.
During recovering from breast cancer surgery in early 2015, Sharon developed a new signature style, using bright, vibrant colours outlined in black, and always featuring gold, in a celebration of life.  While still occasionally painting nudes, her subject matter has become more focused on stylized portraits, and with detailed story-telling pieces.
Since moving to Karana Downs, Queensland, in early 2017, Sharon has been inspired by the beautiful surrounds, and has always included colourful flora in her paintings of strong, serene women. She sells her smaller pieces at local markets in Karana Downs and Ipswich, and has entered a number of art competitions, including the Brookfield Art Show and the Foot Square Competition at the Aspire Gallery in Paddington.  Sharon has also exhibited her works at various venues, including Entangled at the Dayboro Butter Factory, the Aspire Gallery, Art Time Ipswich and the Salon Des Refuses at Arts Alive Ipswich.
